Draco Lux, Sah Panthera, & Glyptosavis: What effect do these surprise Nerfs & Buffs have?

IDGT902

Updated: Nov 10, 2024

Jurassic World Alive announced rebalancing changes to three Apex today! These changes will be effective on November 6, 2024. PVP Battles on IDGT902YouTube coming soon...

DRACO LUX

Abilities:

SWAP IN DOUBLE STRIKE

  • Remove Nullify effect – Add Destroy Shields

Attributes:

  • Decrease Attack from 1700 to 1600

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

At first glance, the changes to Draco Lux do make a significant change to its usage in the arena. It's no longer a swap into everything creature. This does diversify swap in attackers, as well as bring some creatures up that were held under the thumb of this swap in. But it also buffs some creatures and changes team comps.

Magnaraptor is probably the biggest winner from the change to Draco Lux's swap in. Now, nothing can successfully swap into Magnaraptor without needing RNG to potentially win. We think overall we'll see Draco Lux change from a swapper to a lead or clean-up, h2h creature.

SAH PANTHERA

Abilities:

VENGEFUL DOUBLE STRIKE

NON-Revenge:

  • add 1 Delay when not in Revenge state

Attributes:

  • decrease Damage from 1700 to 1600

Resistances:

  • decrease Lockdown Resistance from 100% to 67%

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

At first glance, we don't entirely get the Sah Panthera nerf. We do often hear many players complain about this creature in lower arenas. From their feedback, we can see it causing issues for those that don't have a full team of meta Apex yet. This is because this creature absolutely dominates lower rarities. So, from that perspective, we understand the changes. This rebalancing affects Sah Panthera's usage as well, no longer a great lead or swap in, it will mainly fill the revenge kill role now. Sah will also be slightly easier to keep in after this- with a chance to swap prevent it afterwards, not letting Sah Panthera run to come back again later.

GLYPTOSAVIS

Abilities:

CUNNING SPEED UP STRIKE

  • now targets all opponents

  • add Precise

VENGEFUL FEROCIOUS CHARGE

Revenge:

  • increase damage buff from 25% to 50%

ALERT VESTIGIAL DEVOUR RAMPAGE

Both Secure & Threatened:

  • add Destroy Shields

Threatened:

  • 0 Delay

  • add Afflict all resistances 50% each turn for 2 turns/4 attacks

Resistances:

  • increase Armor from 25% to 35%

  • increase Rend Resistance from 25% to 50%

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

At first glance, the verdict is still out for Glyptosavis. We always welcome buffs over nerfs. So, it will be interesting to see what these changes help moving forward. The armor increase helps quite a bit, and the rend resistance change will help Glyptosavis against Gryganyth. We'll do extensive testing tomorrow after the changes are live and have a video up later in the week.

CONCLUSION & PVP IN ARENA

IDGT will be heading to the arena to test these changes in PVP- content to be posted shortly!

I'm pretty happy with nerfs and the buff I always had a problem with pay to win players in lower arenas I still Doo but dis is a pretty good balance change and for Glyptosavis I think it might be good kind of but hopefully it's no longer the worst apex

I think that the Sah and Draco nerfs are needed and much appreciated. I don't encounter them a whole lot in Aviary but still good for when I do see them. I still that that Glyptosavis needs a bit more. Maybe a small stat buff and add a bit more to the move pool and I think it could be a contender in the arena.

Yeah we'll see how good the Glyptosavis change is and if it makes an impact.

It'll be odd to see a less effective Draco. Maybe they won't all be max damage builds now
