🎉APRIL FOOL'S IN JWA
The April Fools events in Jurassic World Alive have been a yearly tradition for players to look forward to, with new, quirky bosses and challenges keeping the community engaged and entertained. In this article, we’ll take a walk down memory lane to revisit the most memorable April Fools bosses over the years, from the legendary Lord Lythronax to the impossible mini bosses of last year. We’ll also dive into what made these events special and speculate on what could be in store for this year’s April Fools event.

🥇LORD LYTHRONAX – The One & Only. Original April Fool's Boss (2019)
The introduction of Lord Lythronax in 2019 set the stage for what would become a fan-favorite annual event. This unique boss was the first to challenge players in the April Fools Boss format. His absurd power and presence made him a memorable milestone in the game’s history. Even though Lord Lythronax had an over-the-top, playful design, he definitely didn't go easy on players. It was clear from the get-go that the developers wanted the April Fool's event to be difficult with a kit consisting of an Instant Rampage that had no delay as well as a Swap In Rampage and Maximal Counter-Attack. Lord Lythronax had some strong, tricky abilities that could throw off players' strategies. His moves were designed to test different tactics and keep players on their toes. Players had to think outside the box- teams had to be chosen carefully, and strategies adjusted because Lord Lythronax wasn't something you'd just auto-battle against. It took skill to bring him down. This event set the standard for April Fool's in Jurassic World Alive.
🐐TRIPLE GRUFF- Three Baaad Goat Bosses (2020)
In 2020, the community was introduced to the Three Gruff Goat Bosses and their hysterical bleats in the second annual Jurassic World Alive April Fool's. It was a hilarious event that caught players off guard with their seemingly simple yet unexpectedly tough mechanics. Players had to adapt quickly to these amusing foes, and it became one of the most fun and talked-about events of that year.
Triple Gruff consisted of:
🐐 LIL GRUFF- The tiny precursor to the mini bosses of 2024, this rare goat was a bleeding expert that could do you in with six out of the eight abilities in its kit having DoT, including the not so cute Wounding Headbutt and Pan's Exploit.
🐐 BILLY GRUFF- Billy was an epic rarity goat boss that was quite stunning. No, literally a stunning beast. Her kit had stun in five of the eight abilities with gems such as Udderly Stunning and Stiff Leg with its 100% chance to stun.
🐐 BIGGIE GRUFF- Biggie was THE Goat Boss. With moves Mutton With You, Bleat of Annihilation, and Capricorn Fury she was both a defensive and offensive fury that was relentless. Biggie Gruff's massive strength and high HP made her the strongest creature in JWA.
Having three goats was a funny and lighthearted way to continue the April Fool's tradition in Jurassic World Alive. Players got to face off against creatures that looked a little less menacing but still presented a real challenge. Battling the three Gruffs required some careful planning, making the event feel like a fun puzzle while still testing players' tactical skills.
🦤ALL POWERFUL DODO - Back from Extinction! (2021)
The 2021 April Fool’s Dodo Boss event definitely went down as one of the more memorable moments in Jurassic World Alive history! That year, JWA brought us a menacing boss with a Dodovastating Peck! The infamous All-Powerful Dodo had crazy abilities including Spiteful Strike and Fate Sealer- a devastating buff. It made this boss much stronger, allowing it to increase its critical chance and damage while cleansing debuffs meant you couldn't rely on reducing damage or critical hits to slow it down. Meanwhile, Dodovastating Peck was a nightmare in terms of its ability to bypass armor and its massive damage output. The delay made it even trickier to predict and strategize against. It also removed dodge and cloaked effects, so any defensive strategies using evasiveness were essentially useless. The All-Powerful Dodo Boss perfectly captured the spirit of the April Fool’s celebration while throwing in some tough gameplay for players to enjoy.
🐼AILURARCTOS BOSS – Pandamonium Reigns (2022)
The 2022 April Fool's event introduced the Ailurarctos boss, a formidable ursine creature that shook things up for the community. With self-sustaining abilities, this fierce and fluffy boss kept players on their toes and quickly became another highlight of the series. The 2022 event also introduced the 10-step strike with the boss levels & stats changing each step. The final version was a level 30, 25k HP behemoth that could heal and speed up all day long before devastating the opponent into submission.
Panda boss was tanky, could heal herself repeatedly, and gain shields- making her extremely hard to wear down. She also had speed control and could essentially control the pace of the battle, making it tough to counter her. Bamboo Snack Alert and Fuzzy Counter were two of the adorable ability names in her dominating kit. The Panda Boss Strike of 2022 was a perfect continuation of the quirky and tough Jurassic World Alive April Fool's bosses.
🐸BEELZEBUFO BOSS – A Foolish Fiend (2023)
The frog boss in 2023 presented an entirely new dynamic with the ability affliction on full display. Beelzebufo, often referred to as the "devil frog," showcased the powerful move Feast. It was a devastating priority attack that could bypass absorb and hit hard. But what made it truly dangerous was the self-heal—Beelzebufo would restore 100% of its HP, effectively prolonging the battle and making it even harder to defeat. With a 3-turn delay and 4-turn cooldown, it was an ability to be feared when it came around! This year also continued the trend of a 10-step event with increasing difficulty, culminating in a level 30 end-boss possessing 15,531 HP, 1975 attack, and 145 speed.
2023 was also the first year to feature an Isla Event as a part of the April Fool's festivities. Different variations of the Frog Boss appeared in the April Fool's Assault.
The 2023 April Fool's Boss Event as well as the April Fool's Isla Assault with Beelzebufo was yet another example of Jurassic World Alive bringing in a strategic challenge for its players. The Frog Boss' combined mix of disruptive debuffs, self-healing, and damaging counters made the battles cunning and skillful. While the devil frog was humorous in nature, this boss was anything but easy to defeat.
🦖🦖🦖MINI BOSS MADNESS – The Ultimate Test (2024)
The 2024 April Fool's Boss Event in Jurassic World Alive was a wildly intense experience that became quite the talking point in the community due to its unprecedented difficulty. The event featured some adorable mini bosses that were deceptively strong, leading to speculation that the event may have been conceived as intentionally un-winnable by the developers. It was rumored that IDGT902 might have been the only player able to defeat them, and the event became somewhat infamous for its overwhelming challenge. Like 2023, there was a companion April Fool's Isla Assault Event.
JWA's Mini Bosses:
🦖TINY T.REX TWIN- Fierce Strike, Fierce Impact, Fierce Rampage, Primal Brace, Minimal Counter Strike
🦖TINY T.REX- Disperced Fierce Impact, Cleansing Roar, Group Devouring Impact, Fierce Rampage
🦖MINI MORTEM- Stunning Roar, Fierce Rampage, Group Nullifying Impact, Cleansing Random Shattering Strike
Why the 2024 Event Was So Difficult:
💥High Damage Output:
Many of the mini bosses' abilities dealt heavy damage, often bypassing most defenses. This made even high-level creatures vulnerable to quick defeat.
💥Disruption:
The nullifying & cleansing abilities made it hard to rely on buffs, debuffs, or any status effects- forcing players to focus more on raw damage and timing their attacks carefully.
💥Priority Stun and Debuffs:
Stunning Roar and other debuff-heavy abilities kept players constantly on the defensive. With stuns preventing actions and damage being reduced, players could easily find themselves unable to recover.
💥HP Scaling:
Mini Mortem’s massive HP pool (113,953 in step 10) made the fight feel like a test of endurance, where players had to outlast the boss's oppressive moves while dealing with constant debuffs and strong attacks.
The Controversy and Adjustments:
The 2024 Jurassic World Alive April Fool's event was considered near impossible for most players, with rumors circulating that only IDGT902 managed to defeat it. After the event was perceived as un-winnable by many, Jam City responded by re-releasing a modified version of the event later in the month, where the difficulty was significantly reduced. This adjustment made the event more accessible for players, but the original challenge still remained a point of frustration for many.
Despite the high difficulty, the mini bosses were adorable, with their tiny but menacing appearances, and they gained a certain charm despite being oppressive opponents. The cute factor made the mini bosses' fun in a way, but the difficulty spike caused some to feel the event was designed to be too hard for most players to succeed.
The 2024 April Fool's event was definitely a memorable one in Jurassic World Alive history, not just because of the cute bosses but because of the unreasonably high difficulty that frustrated many players. The event left a lasting impression with its mix of adorable appearances and brutal mechanics. While it wasn’t exactly the lighthearted fun many expected from an April Fool's event, it did show how Jam City could create a challenge that truly tested even the most seasoned players.
🎉LOOKING AHEAD: What Could This Year’s April Fools Event Bring?
After a history of increasingly fun and challenging bosses, we can't help but wonder what’s in store for 2025. Could we see a return of old favorites, or will Ludia surprise us with an entirely new concept? With the trend of raising difficulty, this year could bring even tougher bosses, but with their unique humor and charm.
💭FINAL THOUGHTS
April Fools in Jurassic World Alive has always been a time for players to let loose and have fun with the unexpected, and each event brings a new layer of excitement and challenge to the game. Whether it’s hilarious, overpowered bosses or impossible mini bosses, these events are always memorable. As we gear up for this year’s event, we can only guess what ludicrous and fun boss battles await us!
The funniest thing about Lord Lythorax is that it spawned everywhere. It was so common it became a meme in the community along with purussaurus gen 2, which made lord Lythorax that much more iconic. It was also so hilarious when they introduced purrolyth which was a merge of these 2 common creatures. Ingenious move by Ludia at the time
Can't wait for this year's!
Those mini bosses were not okay. Hope this year is better.
Cool.🥳
