Hello everyone. Notes just dropped and it seems there are some big changes to many aspects of the game in and out of battle. So, let’s look at the new creatures and then hop into the QOL changes happening.
NEW CREATURES
THYLACOSMILUS

Stats:
3500 hp
1500 attack
125 speed
0% armor
10% crit chance
125% critical multiplier
Resistances:
50% bleed resistance
50% critical reduction resistance
Moves:
>Blighted Strike: Cleanse bleed. Precise. Increase your speed 25% for 2 turns. Attack highest damage opponent x1 and reduce opponent healing by 25% for 2 turns 2 attacks.
>Deliberate Prowl
>Blighted Double Claw: Increase your speed 25% for 2 turns. Attack highest damage opponent x1 twice and reduce healing 50% 2 turns 4 attacks. Cooldown 1.
Thylacosmilus has a decent kit and some good stats, but with the current rare meta and with Omegas included, I fell it’ll struggle unless it’s a revenge killer, and even then, a well-placed Albertosaurus or Yutyrannus will take it out. And while a creature can get away with poor resistances like Nodosaurus, the kit Thylacosmilus has does not help patch up this glaring issue. Also, Ludia revealed that Thylacosmilus is in arena 5 and up.
AQUICOMILUS

Stats:
3650 hp
1500 attack
130 speed
0% armor
10% crit chance
125% critical multiplier
Resistances:
100% pin resistance
50% distraction resistance
50% bleed resistance
50% critical reduction resistance
Moves:
>Blighted Strike: (See Thylacosmilus)
>Prowl
>Instant Dodge Impact
>Triple Weakening Jab: Attack highest damage x1 three times. Reduce healing and attack by 50% for 2 turns 4 attacks. Cooldown 2. Delay 1.
>Distracting Counter Attack
This legendary I can see a future for. It sits at a good speed tier at 130, and unlike Grylenken, who can struggle vs creatures like Sinraptor, who naturally outspeeds it, or the Doe with its priority attacks, Aquicomilus can actually get the jump on a lot of these creatures in the format with its instant dodge impact and then fire off a triple jab. I do however see this creature struggling if Rativates is legal, as Rativates is just better for the most part. But this is a decent legendary.
SPINOTOPS

Stats:
4800 hp
1700 attack
118 speed
30% armor
20% crit chance
125% critical multiplier
Resistances:
100% stun resistance
50% pin resistance
50% rend resistance
50% distraction resistance
33% bleed resistance
100% vulnerability resistance
75% slow resistance
50% affliction resistance
Moves:
>Protective Advance
>Group Ferocious Charge: Team distraction cleansed, attack increased 50% 3 turns 6 attacks, speed increased 25% 3 turns, and shield 50% 3 turns 6 attacks. All opponents destroyed shields and attack x1.5 while bypassing absorb and armor. Cooldown 3.
>Alert Nullifying Resilient Rampage: Secure (over 33% hp): Cleanse distraction. Attack highest damage x2 after removing cloak, dodge, and speed increase. Induce vulnerability 2 turns 4 attacks. Cooldown 2. Delay 1. Threatened: Cleanse self. Nullify highest damage and attack x2.5 and then impose vulnerability 2 turns 4 attacks. Then you auto swap. Cooldown 2. Delay 1.
>Recuperating Brace: Cleanse yourself of distraction, heal x1, cleanse, and increase your armor 50% 2 turns 4 attacks. Cooldown 1.
>Swap In Laceration
>Alert Revivify On Escape: Secure(Over 33%): Cleanse self of distraction, heal 15% hp, and cleanse. Threatened: Cleanse self of distraction, heal 50% hp, cleanse, and increase attack 50% 2 turns 4 attacks.
>Medium Resilient Counter Attack
This is potentially the strongest thing in the game as of now. It definitely has the strongest turn one potential damage (if a non-vulnerability resistant creature does a swap in attack while having no armor, Spinotops with a counter and Group Ferocious Charge fires back with 8925 attack without critical hits). But besides this one-off scenario, this is probably the strongest opener in the game as nothing really can match up well into it. Alankylodactylus is faster and cannot heal after the charge and probably will drop the following turn. Gryganyth always gets 2-shot after a charge and either a rampage or a protective advance. Mastodonosaurus doesn’t fare much better. Rajadorixis also struggles a lot seeing as Spinotops has affliction resistance and can boost its armor up, allowing it to tank decimations with ease. Depending on the boost spreads, Ampleorex might do OK into Spinotops, but it wants to avoid the threatened range because then it cannot tank the rampage as Spinotops nullifies the armor boost and sends it to kingdom come. What really holds back Spinotops is the cooldowns, but with its healing abilities, this can be worked around.

SPAWN CHANGES
There is a comprehensive list as to what Jam City has done on their page detailing what spawns where, and I like that everything can be obtained in some place. It’s not like old Diplodocus, Doe, or Beta where they would only be available via events and store purchases. Now we can get every nonhybrid in one place or another. It is sad to see hybrids removed from the map, but this change I feel may be for the better. I will say that some of the zones seem to be unbalanced. For example, Europe lacks an omega (and seeing as all the continental spawns are exclusive to the areas where they lived in real life, they could’ve used Vectispinus) and the Americas lack another epic (Edaphosaurus or Maiasaura from parks possibly?). The short-range spawns are interesting as it goes from just Erlikosaurus gen 2 to Legendaries, Uniques, and a whole plethora of Omegas. Also, nighttime park spawns were removed for a reason a long time ago. And I am not a huge fan of the number of continental exclusives and hopefully some of these rotate after some time.
AMBER
Amber is also introduced. How good will it be? Well, it won’t be bad, but it may be like catalysts and just not worth the effort as much. We'll have to see it in action in the game.
FINAL THOUGHTS
So that’s everything. There are some good things coming in the patch next week, but there will also be some things we’ll have to get used to. Also, I’m sure there will be more creatures introduced later on so look out for those. Thanks for reading and I will see you all later.
Ed
Because the amount of resources required to create them is so outrageously ridiculous, catalysts are virtually useless. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if they make Amber a little more equitable, but I’m not holding my breath.
Good to see that the absolute bombshell that is Aquilamimus getting a hybrid. They're really good at pumping new meta creatures consistently which is both good and bad. I can't wait to see what else they add in 3.12.
